Minor Works Certificate
This Certificate is issued when minor works or alterations have been carried out to an electrical installation. For example adding socket outlets, adding extra lighting. Minor works are not required for replacement works.
EICR
Formally known as Periodic Inspections until the most recent amendment in the Regulations, EICR's (Electrical Installation Condition Report) are designed to test the current state of an electrical installation and highlight any problems with the wiring before they become issues to the homeowner / occupier. These test not only the electrical wiring but also the physical state of all accessories such as sockets, switches and light fixtures as well as insuring that the current installation stays up to date with current regulations. Any issues raised are classed as either:
- C1 - "Danger present. Risk of injury. Immediate remedial action required"
- C2 - "Potentially dangerous-urgent remedial action required"
- C3 - "Requires further investigation"
EIC
An Electrical Installation Certificate is intended for when more significant works had been carried out at a property, such as adding an additional consumer unit in a garage or shed or for new-build installations or when a property has been fully rewired. This certificate is also issued when a consumer unit upgrade has been carried out for an existing installation.
